Dundee Gymnastics Club 2K enjoyed a very successful weekend at the 2015 Scottish Gymnastics Women's Artistic Championships! The competition was held on 21-22nd of February 2015 in the Bell's Centre in Perth.  The first day of the Championships is the All Around and Team event.  DGC2K were delighted to take Silver in the Team event beating off stiff competition from City of Glasgow and West Lothian teams but narrowly missing out on Gold to Largs.
 
Sofia Ramzan (14, Grove Academy) performed four beautiful routines, achieving a personal best score of 49.8 and taking Silver for the second year in a row in the All Around Junior age group. Sarah McKenzie (13, Dundee High) and Hayley Bell (13, Menzieshill High) also competed well in this category placing 3rd and 6th respectively.  Rosa Holm-Huxley (12, Harris Academy) was a strong representative and contender in the Espoir section.
 
The second day of the Championships is the finals for the individual apparatus.
In the Junior finals Sofia Ramzan had an excellent competition winning Silver for Beam and Asymmetric Bars, joint silver for Floor and Bronze for Vault, and managed  to secure her highest overall score yet of 50.25. Sarah McKenzie also performed well to achieve joint silver for Floor, silver for Vault and bronze for Floor.
 
Dundee Gymnastics Club 2K (dgc2k.co.uk) train at the Dick McTaggart Gymnastics Centre in Dundee which opened in 2013 after a complete refurbishment and now has equipment as good as any in Scotland. DGC2K are a performance club and have enjoyed a particularly successful year which has been acknowledged locally by reaching the finals in the Dundee Sports Awards for the Club of the Year award, and winning both the Team of the Year and Coach of the Year (Bea Peterson) awards. The Team Silver title at this year’s Scottish Championships confirms the young impressive team as one of the best in Scotland and DGC2K as one of the most successful Gymnastics Performance Clubs.  DGC2K has more than doubled in size over the last year and now has 180 members.  There are sections in Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Power Tumble, Floor and Vault, and Rhythmic Gymnastics run by Head Coach Bea Petersen and a team of 12 qualified coaches.  The Development classes for 5-7 year olds allow a large intake of new talent and anyone interested should enter on the web site dgc2k.co.uk.
