Dundee Gymnastics Club 2K enjoyed a highly successful weekend at the 2016 Scottish Gymnastics Women's Artistic Championships! The competition was held on 27-28th of February 2016 in the Bell's Centre in Perth.  The first day of the Championships is the All Around and Team event where teams from all over Scotland come together. In the Team event Dundee 2K finished in Silver medal position with a score of 142.350 missing out on Gold to City of Glasgow GC.
 
Sofia Ramzan (16, Grove Academy) competed in the Senior Competition for the first time and performed four beautiful routines, achieving an impressive score of 49.450 and taking Silver in the Senior All Around event. Sarah McKenzie (14, Dundee High) had an excellent competition in the Junior category finishing 3rd overall with a score of 48.00. Both girls qualified for the apparatus finals on the Sunday along with Rosa Holm-Huxley (13, Harris Academy) and Rebecca Farningham (11, Claypotts Castle Primary) who both made it through to the Asymmetyric Bars finals for Junior and Espoir categories respectively.
 
The Individual Apparatus event on the Sunday was also a successful day for Dundee 2K. In the Senior finals Sofia Ramzan took Bronze on Beam and Asymmetric Bars. In the Junior Apparatus Finals Sarah McKenzie excelled to achieve Gold on Floor while Rosa Holm-Huxley took Bronze on Asymmetric Bars.
 
Dundee Gymnastics Club 2K (www.dgc2k.co.uk) train at the Dick McTaggart Gymnastics Centre in Dundee which opened in 2013 after a complete refurbishment and now has equipment as good as any in Scotland. DGC2K are a performance club and continue to enjoy great local, national and international success each year. The Team Silver title at this year’s Scottish Championships confirms the young impressive team as one of the best in Scotland and DGC2K as one of the most successful Gymnastics Performance Clubs.  DGC2K has more than doubled in size over the last two years and now has 220 members.  There are sections in Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Power Tumble, Floor and Vault, and Rhythmic Gymnastics run by Head Coach Bea Petersen and a team of 12 qualified coaches.  The Development classes for 5-7 year olds allow a large intake of new talent and anyone interested should enter on the web site dgc2k.co.uk.
